Award-Winning Article Contest from BESOM

After announcing the music awards, the Association of Composers, Conductors and Musicologists (BESOM) has now organized a "National Research-Article Contest" to be concluded in 2021. The subject of the competition, in which a total of 21 thousand TL will be awarded to the articles that will receive the first three degrees, was determined as follows:

 

“The productivity of contemporary Turkish composing in the Republican era; How effective has it been, quantitatively and qualitatively, at home and abroad? What reasons led to the result and how can these reasons be interpreted?

Participation will end on September 30, 2021 and TR. The competition, which citizens can participate in, was organized entirely online. The following names are listed in alphabetical order in the jury of the competition, where research-articles ranging in length from 30 to 45 pages are requested from the participants:

Ersin Antep (Expert Musicologist)

Ersin Onay (Prof. Pianist- Retired Lecturer)

Kıvılcım Yıldız Acar (Prof. Dr. MSGU. İDK. Musicology Department Lecturer)

Türev Berki (Prof. Dr. HU. ADK. Head of Music Sciences Department)

Yiğit Aydın (Lecturer, Composer - Bilkent University MSSF Faculty Member)

RESULTS

​

The deadline for the competition, which was widely announced to the music and musicology community, was September 30, 2021, but this deadline was extended until November 30, 2021 upon some requests. On the other hand, it was seen that three articles were sent to the competition, which received 9, 7 and 5 thousand TL prizes for the first three places. The pseudonymous articles were sent to the jury for consideration. Jury Prof. Dr. Ali Ergur, Prof. Dr. Kıvılcım Yıldız Acar, Prof. Dr. Türev Berki, Prof. Cihat Askin, Prof. It consisted of Ersin Onay and musicologist Ersin Antep. The jury, with the exception of Ersin Onay, on 16 December 2021 at 19.00, with each member making their own assessment, attended Prof. Dr. Under the chairmanship of Ali Ergur, he presented his personal evaluations for each article separately. At the end of the voting, the decision of the jury was reported to the BESOM Board of Directors as "It was unanimously decided that none of the three articles nominated within the scope of the BESOM Article Contest were worthy of an award."
